Condition Guide
We at The Music Rescue do our very best to examine and/or test every item that we consider including on this website. As a general rule, we follow the guidelines below. However, on occasion we may miss something that will effect the grading. Your satisfaction and joy with the products you order is our top priority, so if you are ever unhappy with how we have graded a product please let us know.
Book/Sheet Music Condition Guide
New – self-explanatory. “New” is . . . well, new!
Like New – The book is in the same condition as when it was published, but is not “New”. This could be the description for an item that has been kept in a warehouse for years, never shelved, thumbed or even opened yet may still be some years old.
Excellent – Approaches the condition of “Like New” but may have some very minor flaws, such as shelf wear or has clearly been handled but not damaged or written on/in.
Very Good – Shows small signs of wear (but no tears) on either the binding or inside pages. May include some writing on cover (inside or outside) and a few pencil markings inside score.
Good – Average used worn book that is complete but with minor defects (including a few small tears), includes some pencil or pen markings on the cover or inside pages; or an older book in decent shape but with faded or discolored pages.
Acceptable – Still a usable copy but complete with defects as described under “Good” but with more frequency, more markings, and/or larger tears. In general, we do not sell items in this condition unless it is a rare specialty item.
NOTE: We generally do not sell items below the grade of “Good”. Occasionally you may find an item in “Acceptable” condition on this website, but those are exceptions.
CD/DVD Condition Guide
New – self-explanatory. “New” is . . . well, new!
Like New – The CD or DVD is in the same condition as when it was published, but is not “New”. This could be an item that has been stored for years, never played or even opened yet may still be some years old.
Excellent – Approaches the condition of “Like New” but may have some very minor flaws, such as shelf wear or has clearly been handled but not damaged. Typically this grading goes to items where the jewel case (for CDs) or clamshell (for DVDs) shows a bit of age but is still in good condition with no cracks or broken pieces.
NOTE: We do not sell any CDs or DVDs below the grade of “Excellent.”
